Karen Servatt, a native New Mexican pastel artist, enjoys using the vibrant colors and rich layering of pastels to depict the beauty of southwest landscapes, florals, still lifes and animals with the hope that art purchased for use in homes and business will enrich those environments.
As an adult, she studied oil painting with local artist. Martha Bacon, and began selling art. Later interest in the medium of pastels resulted in attending demonstrations by Daniel Greene and Albert Handel. Recently, since retiring from Albuquerque Public Schools, she was a member of Deborah Secor Christensen’s master pastel class and attends various workshops and demonstrations offered through the Pastel Society of New Mexico.
Pastel painting,”Quail in Snow”, was chosen and sold to benefit the Easter Society. Paintings have been donated to various charities for fundraising.
Currently exhibiting at Nob Hill Gallery at 7400 Montgomery NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico
